Offering comprehensive birth + postpartum support and more

With over 14 years of experience as a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, Certified Perinatal Educator, and as the owner of The Hive Doula Services, I’m dedicated to providing exceptional support to families. As a Registered Massage Therapist, I integrate therapeutic techniques to help ease pregnancy discomfort and promote relaxation. This dual expertise allows me to offer comprehensive support, ensuring a holistic approach to childbirth and postpartum care.

Committed to learning and growing in all areas of life

I currently serve as the President of the Calgary Doula Association (CDA), where I work to support and advance the interests of doulas in our area. I am also a Community Liaison with the Doula Association of Alberta (DAA) for the Calgary Area.

In addition, I am training with Evidence Based Birth® (EBB) to become an instructor, further enriching my ability to support and educate families and fellow professionals. My career has been focused on delivering heartfelt, accessible care throughout the birth and postpartum experience. Outside of my doula work, you can find me hip squeezing, baking sourdough, indulging in urban homesteading, and dreaming about the birth room.

Care that is compassionate and professional

Originally from Ontario but a proud Calgarian for nearly 21 years, I bring a blend of experience, enthusiasm, and a touch of old-school charm to this role. As a mom to an 18-year-old, I understand firsthand the challenges and joys of pregnancy and parenting. My experience allows me to empathize with families and offer personalized support tailored to their unique needs. This combination of professional expertise and personal insight makes me a compassionate and effective doula, committed to supporting families through every stage of their journey.

The beginning of my journey to doulahood…

A doula was something I had never heard of before becoming a mother. When I was in labour many moons ago, the nurse mentioned possibly getting a volunteer doula. In any case, I didn’t up getting one.

Having a doula is something I would have jumped at if I knew then what I know now!

It wasn’t until a few years later that I actually met a doula. What I learned made me fall in love—  😍 heart eyes and obsessed— with the idea of supporting a birthing person through every stage of their journey: pregnancy, birth and beyond.

I always had a desire to be a part of the birthing community. As a little girl, I aspired to be just like my great Nanny who worked in Newfoundland as a midwife. Then my older sister decided it would be funny to describe to me in great detail how babies are born. You can imagine the fright and confusion in little Adele, who quickly decided maybe she wanted to become a singer instead.

Fast forward to the time of young adulthood: the world I stepped into as a new mom was unfamiliar to someone who was inexperienced, clueless, and felt she was voiceless. Back then, I didn’t fully understand that I could have a choice in having the birth that I wanted, that maybe my labour didn’t have to be the journey it was, and most importantly, that I didn’t have to go through my postpartum journey alone.

In retrospect, I wished I had someone like me now. There was so much more that I could have had. That I deserved.

This is why I chose to become a doula. I believe all birthing individuals need a birth bestie in their corner. I’m excited to provide you with the support and love you deserve throughout your pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum period.
